چکیده

The article describes the background and the detailed history of computer icons featured in graphical interfaces—complete with visual examples and short descriptions of 21 interfaces (from 1981’s Xerox Star to upcoming BeOS Zeta). There is also a breakdown of various icon properties (such as size, style or number of colours). The article ends with a quick glimpse into the future and a conclusion that the icons are not necessarily evolving into the most desirable direction, focusing more on the visuals than the functionality.

Self-assembly of complex two-dimensional shapes from single-stranded DNA tiles.

Current methods in DNA nano-architecture have successfully engineered a variety of 2D and 3D structures using principles of self-assembly. In this article, we describe detailed protocols on how to fabricate sophisticated 2D shapes through the self-assembly of uniquely addressable single-stranded DNA tiles which act as molecular pixels on a molecular canvas. Each single-stranded tile (SST) is a ...

Pixel Perfect: Fingerprinting Canvas in HTML5

Tying the browser more closely to operating system functionality and system hardware means that websites have more access to these resources, and that browser behavior varies depending on the behavior of these resources. We propose a new system fingerprint, inspired by the observation above: render text and WebGL scenes to a element, then examine the pixels produced. The new fingerprin...

Fast Least Square Matching

Least square matching (LSM) is one of the most accurate image matching methods in photogrammetry and remote sensing. The main disadvantage of the LSM is its high computational complexity due to large size of observation equations. To address this problem, in this paper a novel method, called fast least square matching (FLSM) is being presented. The main idea of the proposed FLSM is decreasing t...

The study of canvas-marouflaged murals Conservation and restoration criteria in Iran

Abstract All stages of the Conservation of historical properties must be done according to criteria that are in fact the separator of the correct from the incorrect. Some criteria are general and apply to all types of historical artworks, and some of them can be considered more limited to some types of historical artifacts. Canvas-marouflaged murals, like other historical artworks, are no exce...

Pattern Design Using Cellular Automata and an Iterative Relocation System

We introduce a two-step method for generating decorative images. In the first step, a special kind of 2D Cellular Automata (CA) is used as an engine for generating various patterns in pixel format. In the second step, an iterative relocation system is applied to convert the pixel based pattern into a mesh based system. Example patterns show the power of the combined method. Also we introduce an...
